Meet the team

Steve Williamson

I have lived in Nottingham all my life, as has my wife Vicky. Together we worshipped at The King’s Church, an evangelical church with Baptist roots. I had grown up (and out, as my waist size will show!) in this church, however, Vicky had come from a non-church background. She came along to King’s with me shortly after we met, in 1996 and here faith journey moved on, albeit slowly, to her becoming a Christian in 2001.

We married in July 2002 and have since sought God’s plan for our lives together. We both feel strongly called to the field of Christian Children’s and Youth Work, and Vicky brings to this her particular gift of working with those who have additional needs.

Having worked in the reprographics Industry for 12 years. God decided it was time for me to have a change!!! And what a change!! Working for the YMCA doing schools and community work with children and young people was the furthest thing possible from sitting in my lovely air conditioned office. But it really was the best change ever and I got so much enjoyment and teaching from the rollercoaster of discovery at the YMCA. This had given me a great foundation of knowledge and training that I could not have got anywhere else.

Vicky works for Scripture Union as their Special Needs Advisor, covering just a little area of England and Wales! She often travels up and down the various motorways, discovering all the Marks and Spencer services, as she jets from one place to another training and developing churches to be more inclusive of those with different and additional needs.

We are both excited about the work and vision of St. Luke’s and are keen to become an active part in the church in whatever way God wants us to.
In the Children’s and Youth work, I am looking forward to working alongside the many dedicated people, involved in the various projects currently offered at St. Luke’s. My emphasis will be on ensuring volunteers are supported, encouraged and developed in this area. I also hope to look into filling any gaps in the outreach to and discipleship of children and young people here in Lodge Moor.

My wife having, what is to me a rather strange but still gracious, a spiritual gift of administration, she will be helping me to create an easy method of fulfilling all health and safety and child protection criteria with our forms, filling and policies.
